Mr Wilkins Shilling - Music

Bobsworth Band

This page is all about the Bobsworth Band, AKA the Mr Wilkins Shilling morris musicians. At the last count there were 9 of us, playing a range of instruments, from French horn via various concertinas, recorders and suchlike to mandolin and melodeon. Our kit is simple: black trousers or skirts (depending on gender and/or preference), black shirts and rather fetching black waistcoats with red piping. We practice along with the dancers on Thursdays in Batheaston.

There is quite an overlap with the session at Bradford on Avon and with the Widcombe Wobblers (don't ask ...), so we get plenty of practice playing one way or another. If there's one thing that unites us it's a love of English music and dance.

Here is a selection of some of the tunes we play, recorded in glorious mp3 for your delight and delectation.
Some of our tunes

British Grenadiers Fenella's Dance
